Brad Falchuk’s first, forgotten wife and why split made Gwyneth Paltrow ‘question’ romance
Twice two years ago, it was Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk who tied the knot in her East Hampton home’s back garden in front of 70 closest friends and relatives.
The luxe party was a family event, with Gwyneth’s 16-year-old daughter Apple from her union with Chris Martin as bridesmaid to Brad’s daughter Isabella with first wife TV producer Suzanne Bukinik.
Despite the family vignettes, both have conceded that it wasn’t without its problems to negotiate a new relationship with two teenage children apiece.
So much so that they did not even move in together until a year after their wedding.
“We’ve just done it slowly. Divorce is awful, even when it’s the right thing to do,” Hollywood hotshot producer Brad told WSJ Magazine previously.
“And it’s really hard on kids. Come September, we’re gonna Brady Bunch it up, and it’ll be great.”
49-year-old Brad got to know Suzanne in 2001, when they were both up-and-coming producers searching for their place in Los Angeles.
Suzanne, who relocated from the Bronx in New York, was already the larger star initially having produced TV series According To Jim between 2001 and 2009.
They wed in 2003, had two kids, Brody and Isabella, and watched each other’s careers soar, especially when Brad created the series, American Horror Story.
But it was his 2009 series Glee, which he co-created, that catapulted Brad into household name status and also brought him to his next great love, Gwyneth Paltrow.
Cast as Holly Holliday the Spanish teacher in 2010, Gwyneth, 48, apparently became close friends with the Emmy-nominated actress.

Then in April 2015 the couple went public at Robert Downey Jr’s 50th birthday party when sources informed People magazine: “Gwyneth and Brad have had a personal relationship for a long time. It is still evolving.”
But when Brad and Suzanne’s divorce was apparently stalled in 2015, Gwyneth is reported to have been infuriated – especially since her own divorce from Chris had been sorted out.
“I don’t know when it happened, precisely. I don’t know what day of the weekend it was or at what time of day. But I knew – after long walks and longer lie-ins, large glasses of Barolo and hands clasped – my marriage was at an end.”.
“What I do recall is that it was so close to involuntary. I attempted to suppress that awareness, to drive it way down. I attempted to make myself believe that it had been a passing notion, that marriage is messy and ebbed and flowed. But I knew. It was in my bones.”
