In a new court ruling, ex-Grey’s Anatomy actor Jesse Williams has been awarded sole custody in terms of his children’s medical care.
According to court papers secured by In Touch, ex-wife Aryn Drake-Lee and Jesse Williams appeared in court on March 20 to revisit the custody agreement. At the hearing, the court ruled that Jesse Williams should have sole legal control over the medical care of their children.

Under the new custody arrangement, both Jesse Williams and Drake-Lee will still share physical custody, alternating parenting duties on a weekly basis. The plan stipulates that neither parent can have more than 14 consecutive overnight stays with the children. Vacation time will also be split equally between the parents.

As per the court order, “The parties shall take three consecutive weeks for vacation during summer each year, with each party choosing one week within their two custodial weeks to make up the three-week period.”
As part of the legal contract, sole decision-making authority over the children’s medical matters has been awarded to Jesse Williams. But he must keep Drake-Lee abreast of all relevant information regarding their children’s health, education, and general welfare.

Jesse Williams and Aryn Drake-Lee met in 2007, prior to the actor’s start in the entertainment industry. They got married in September 2012 after being in a relationship for five years. They have two children together: Sadie, 11, and Maceo, 9.
In April 2017, Jesse Williams petitioned for divorce based on concerns over Drake-Lee’s reported “erratic behavior” and “manic outbursts.” The breakup spawned a long-term custody battle, with Jesse Williams pushing for joint custody and Drake-Lee asking for sole custody of their kids.
After three years of litigation, their divorce was granted in October 2020. The recent decision is a milestone in their continued co-parenting life, with Jesse Williams gaining sole authority in cases concerning the health of their children.
