India’s Squad For 2024 T20 World Cup: Expected Dates For Rohit Sharma-Led Team’s Announcement
India’s Squad For 2024 T20 World Cup: Expected Dates For Rohit Sharma-Led Team’s Announcing With the event being hosted in the USA or West Indies, a handful of the stand-bys are expected to travel with the Indian cricket team.
India’s 15-member squad for the forthcoming T20 World Cup in the United States and the West Indies is expected to be announced in the last week of April, as the ICC’s team submission deadline is May 1, according to a BCCI source on Saturday. However, each participating team will have the opportunity to alter players in their initial roster until May 25.
The Indian team will be picked somewhere in the final week of April, when the first half of the IPL will be over and the national selection council will be able to examine the form and health of the contenders,” the senior BCCI source told PTI on the condition of anonymity.
The first wave of cricketers will depart for New York immediately following the conclusion of the IPL’s league round on May 19. Those players whose teams will not qualify for the last four will go early, as it happened during the WTC finals last year,” the source added.
With the event taking place in the United States and the West Indies, it is believed that a few stand-bys will accompany the team to avoid a logistical nightmare if any player from the main squad is injured or forced to withdraw due to unforeseen circumstances.
The four national selectors are travelling to witness the majority of the matches because this is the World Cup, as opposed to previous editions where they just travel for a few games and watch the rest on TV.
It is understood that no instructions on workload management have been given to any of the Cup aspirants during the two months they are under the franchise’s authority.
Obviously, if any nationally contracted or targeted player is hurt, his case will be promptly referred to the NCA’s Medicine and Sports Science team.
. However, when players sign contracts with franchises, the BCCI cannot prescribe how many matches they play. “There are only four overs for bowlers,” the person continued.
